Edge Finder is now Soft Lines

Same tool, same address, clearer name. Soft Lines finds prices out of line with the market. Positive EV finds prices above no-vig fair odds.

Edge Finder has a new name: Soft Lines. The tool itself did not change. It lives at the same address, and your saved filters, custom models, hidden rows and alert rules are all where you left them.

Why the rename

The most common question we get about the Grinder tools is how Edge Finder differs from Positive EV. Some of our own descriptions blurred the two, which did not help. The new name is the word bettors already use for what it finds: a price that is soft against the rest of the market.

Soft Lines and Positive EV

  • Soft Lines looks at one side of a bet. It compares a book's price with a reference you choose: the market average, a specific book, the next-best price where offered, or a custom model. It needs no second side, so it covers one-way props like first touchdown scorer and goal scorer.

  • Positive EV uses both sides. It removes the margin from a reference market to estimate a fair price, then shows you the prices that beat it.

A selection can appear in one tool and not the other, because the evidence and the math differ. Edge % in Soft Lines is the gap to the reference you picked. It is not a chance of winning, and changing the reference changes the answer.

What you will notice

  • The sidebar, search, alerts and Discord messages now say Soft Lines.

  • Searching for "edge finder" still finds it, and old links and bookmarks still work. You can also go to /soft-lines.

  • Alert rules you already named keep their names. New rules default to Soft Lines.

  • Both tools now carry a one-line description next to the page title.
